Outline: • God goes ahead of the Israelites to show them who their God is, so they can know all that their God is doing for them. • Just as the Israelites are to remember what God has done for them in cutting off the Jordan, so we are to remember the cross and all Jesus has done in restoring our relationship with God. • Under the new covenant we all need to experience circumcision, but circumcision of the heart so that we value what God values and represent Him to the world. |

Outline: • The Gibeonites are desperate to be a part of God’s people so God allows this despite their methods. • The rest of the surrounding peoples decide to oppose God’s people and are therefore destroyed. • The Israelites learn to be strong and courageous as when they are faithful to God, he provides for them and hands their enemies over to them. |
